I chose to study software engineering because I needed a career change and I think coding will be the right direction for me to take. Coding to me is something that is very challenging but it can also be very rewarding. I love the problem solving aspect of coding and seeing what you can achieve. Although it is nearly impossible to know every single thing about coding, I want to learn as much as I can and see where it leads me. Ever since the days of Myspace I have been coding. Although coding layouts for Myspace was pretty basic, it was always fun to play around with the code and see what you could accomplish.

I took a web design class in high school and I absolutely loved that class. The thing I really loved about that class was coding the websites. When I started college right after high school I studied graphic design. I really not like graphic design. I felt like I was not creative enough and I struggled with it. It was easy to learn how to use the Adobe programs but I knew I didn’t want to go into graphic design. That is when I switched my major to web design. I still did not like the design aspect of it but I loved the coding part. I dropped out of college and have always thought about pursuing a career in coding ever since but never managed to do it.

I have tried a few online boot camps and classes for coding but I never did get very far as I did not think I would make a career out it. That is when I found Flatiron School. I have seen many positive reviews about Flatiron and knew I had to try it. I am very excited to learn more programming languages and to build software. Hopefully one day I will be coding software for a huge company like Google!
